During a campaign fundraiser in September 2016, Hillary Clinton said “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables”. She used the term deplorables a few times during her campaign. Republicans and Trump supporters seized on it. It could have cost Clinton a number of votes and added a number of votes for Trump.
Forget about the supporters. Who do/did the Republicans have in elected office, that could be identified as deplorable:
Donald “big liar” Trump;
Matt “alleged sex trafficer of minors” Gaetz;
Marjorie Taylor Greene. Space lasers, calling for Marshall Law (that is how she spelt it), calling for Nancy Pelosi to be executed for treason;
Lauren Boebert. Conspiracy theorist and praiser of the Proud Boys;
Madison Cawthorn. Gun offences, driving offences, detailer of orgies;
Paul Gosar. Censured for posting an edited clip of him killing AOC;
Louie Gohmert. This guy voted against lynching being made a federal crime. He also said, two days after Sandy Hook, that the massacre would not have happened if the teachers were armed.
These are the only ones that came to me at the top of my head. There are others. They represent the voters of their congressional distric, except for Donald Trump. He represented the voters of the entire nation who chose him.
What Hillary actual said that there were two baskets. One basket contained everyday people who voted for Republican policies. The second basket were the deplorables such as racists, white nationalists etc. But these clowns identified above…
