Ron Johnson is a Republican Senator from Wisconsin. On January 6, just before Vice President Pence was to begin proceedings (half hour before) to certify Joe Biden as the next President, an aide to Pence received a text from the Chief of Staff to Johnson. Essentially, Johnson wanted to hand deliver, to Pence, an alternate slate of electors from both Wisconsin and Michigan. These fake electors would have given these states to Trump.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now investigating the entire fake electors conspiracy. As news was breaking out, on subpoenas being issued relating to this conspiracy, reporters caught Johnson, as he was walking, and begin questioning him. Johnson had his phone to his ear and said that he was talking on the phone. One sharp eyed reporter said “no you’re not, I can see the screen on the phone”. Johnson kept walking for a while longer, pretending he was talking to someone on the phone. He then put the phone down and tried, poorly, to deny that he had any knowledge of the text sent by his Chief of Staff. Every day, this is getting wilder and nuttier. New prisons may have to be built to accommodate all the Republicans who will be jailed in relatioin to the January 6 insurrection.
