I Beg Your Pardon

The guy on the left is John McEntee. He has a dubious background. He was born, in 1990. A young pup. He was a bodyman and personal aide to then President Trump, when he was dismissed by then Chief of Staff, John Kelly, in 2018, at the tender age of 27. He was dismissed for failing a security clearance in relation to financial crimes. But since Trump hires “the best people”, after Kelly was gone, Trump hired him back and named him as Director of Presidential Personnel. Yes he did. McEntee’s primary role was to clear out people who were not loyal to Trump.

Matt Gaetz, on the right, a Republican congressman, from Florida, is under investigation (two years running now) for having sex with a 17 year old, in exchange for money, in violation of sex trafficking laws. I could go into the background of this investigation and all the related alledged crimes that Gaetz did, but I won’t. Just know that back in 2017, Gaetz was the only person to vote again sex trafficking legislation.

So how are these two related? McEntee has just testified before the January 6 Committee. Back a few months ago, Cassidy Hutchinson testified that Gaetz had asked Trump for a pardon. Gaetz vehemently denied ever doing so. McEntee confirmed Hutchinson’s claim. McEntee testified that Gaetz requested a preemptive pardon relating to the sex trafficking investigation. According to McEntee, Gaetz had approached him to discuss the process of getting a pardon. Gaetz claims that he has never paid for sex and he never had sex with a 17 year old. According to McEntee, Gaetz told him,

“he did not do anything wrong but they are trying to make his life hell, and you know, if the president could give him a pardon, that would be great.”

McEntee also added that Gaetz told him that Gaetz had approached Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, for a pardon. Eric Herschmann, former White House Trump lawyer, stated that Gaetz had talked to him about a broad pardon, as follows

“The general tone was we may get prosecuted because we were defensive of the president’s positions on these things. The pardon that he was discussing, requesting was as broad as you could describe. From beginning – I remember he said, from the beginning of time up until today for any and all things. He had mentioned Nixon, and I said Nixon’s pardon was never nearly that broad,”

Trump never pardoned Gaetz. So the sword is still hanging over his head. It is worrying to say, that in a Republican primary for his seat, a little while ago, Gaetz won by a landslide. If he wins his mid term election, hopefully, he will be celebrating it in prison.
