Honestly was not going to make a chirp about this, but someone said she was looking forward to this chirp and I will yield to her good judgement. Donnie has announced his run for the President in 2024. The good thing is this provides a lot of fodder for the next couple of years. The bad thing is that it feeds his insatiable ego because of all the publicity he is going to get.
let’s get this out front. He is facing a number of criminal investigations and lawsuits. Honestly, there are too many to mention. Prominent are Georgia, January 6 and Mar-a-Lago documents. The key reason he is running is he wants these investigations on hold, while he is running, and disappeared if he becomes president. Second reason is he ego. Plain and simple.
Things are still the same, but they are also different this time around. He is still lying. His announcement last night included lies about gas prices, the border wall, Obama taking documents and, honestly, countless others. But things are also different this time. Ivanka was not there last night, nor will she participate during this run. She is still sickened by what happened on January 6. Hardly any notables were there last night, other than alleged sex offender Matt Gaetz former congressman Madison Cawthorn.
I did not watch his speech (just had dinner did not want to vomit) but as one commentator put it he gave a low-key Jeb Bush reading from the teleprompter speech, as if he really did not want to be there. The media enthusiasm is not the same as last time either. MSNBC did not carry the speech. CNN carried only part of the speech. Fox Propaganda (also known as Fox News) even did not carry the whole speech. Turned on to Fox yesterday and there was Brett Baier, an afternoon news host interviewing Mike Pence covering, in part, January 6, where Pence was critical of Trump. The most notable media slap down on Trump was by the Rupert Murdoch owned New York Post. Its front cover had at the very bottom “FLORIDA MAN MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT page 26” On page 26, the headline reads “Been there, Don that”
So, is Donnie done for? No, not by a long shot. Right after January 6, a number of Republicans castigated Trump. Yet, three weeks late Minority Leader went to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Trump’s ring. Sigh.
