Ronald Reagan was the cold war warrior. The Soviet Union was the empire of evil. On June 12, 1987, while making a speech, in west Berlin, he stated the following, now famous quote,
“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!“
Reagan’s Republican Party was hardline against the Soviet Union. The Democrats were on the defensive as being to weak on the dreaded evil empire.
This was before Donald Trump. Trump, in Helsinki stated that he trusted more than his own intelligence agencies. This was before Tucker Carlson, who has constantly defended Putin, in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Carlson, infamously said that Putin was just defending his territory. Carlson has been the voice of the extreme right. That is not completely accurate given that the extreme right is edging more towards the mainstream right. MTG has promised not to give a single cent more to Ukraine.
Carlson got fired from Fox Entertainment this week. Carlson, who’s rants have been a daily staple on Russian State tv, has received a job offer from Russia Today (RT), a news network that has been banned in a number of European countries. The following is from RT’s twitter account.
“Hey @TuckerCarlson, you can always question more with @RT_com,”.
Russian propogandist, Vladimir Solovyov, who’s YouTube channel was banned last year, had the following praise for Carlson.
“You have our admiration and support in any endeavor you choose yourself next, be it running for president of the United States (which you should totally do, by the way) or making an independent media project.”
How much has Carlson radicalized his tv audience? Fox’s market value has gone down $500 million, since Carlson’s departure. Carlson averaged 3.3 million viewers on a typical Monday night. On the first night with Brian Kilmeade., at the helm, Fox lost 700,000 viewers. MSNBC, with Rachel Maddow, beat Fox on the 25-54 age demographic. Newsmax increased their audience, during the same time period.
Carlson was the dog that wagged the Republican Party tail. Heaven help any Republicans who disagreed with him. Shades of Rush Limbaugh. Any democrat, who fell into his sights, would start getting death threats the next day.
Ronald Reagan is probably asking Nancy, right now “what the heck is going on?’
