A follow up on my chirp from a couple of days ago. Still reading the book titled ‘Adolph Hitler’ written by John Toland, back in 1976. Thus book was written far before the appearance of Trump on the political scene. The similarities between the two are astonishing.
Both are autocrats. Both despised democracy. Hitler actually called it an evil. Both hated the free speech media. Hitler took control over the media. Trump will try to the same in a second term. Both surrounded themselves with yes men. Both identified a common enemy. With Hitler it was the Jews. With Trump it is immigrants. Both were compared to Jesus. Germans seeing Christ on the cross would say ‘that is Hitler’. Both used religion to suit their objectives. Remember Trump showing up at church holding the upside down bible? Both had a religious following. Both had fanatical followers. Hitler destroyed trade unions. Trump unfettered would do the same. One last thing, both called their enemies ‘vermin’.
