There was an Appeals Court hearing yesterday where the issue was whether Donald Trump had full immunity from prosecution while he was President. One thing I got out if it was that I became jealous of the Trump lawyer’s dancing abilities because he sure did a lot of dancing.
He was thrown a couple of hypotheticals by one of the judges. He was asked whether a president could be prosecuted for selling pardons or state secrets. The lawyer said no if he was not impeached and convicted by the House and Senate first.
The same judge then asked a more extreme hypothetical. What if the president ordered a hit by Seal Team 6 on a political opponent. This is where the lawyer danced. He never directly answered the question. He said that he would surely be impeached and convicted by the House and Senate. When he was pressed further on it, he danced around it.
Team Trump is trying to have it both ways here. Mitch McConnell, following the failure by the Senate to convict Trump, after the second impeachment said that Trump would be liable for prosecution under the court system. Now team Trump is trying to say that Trump would have to be impeached and convicted first in Congress.
The Appeals Court will definitely rule against Trump. It will eventually go to the Supreme Court.
What will happen if the Supreme Court rules in favour of Trump? Anarchy is not a strong enough word. A lot of political opponents would be falling to their deaths out if windows like in Putin’s Russia. There is a meme going viral on Twitter showing Biden calling Seal Team 6 giving them a job with the target having a smelly ass. The smelly ass reference is a chirp for another day.
