The game of immigration border poker is reaching new heights with unbelievable stakes at play Immigration has been an issue for years. Neither party, when in power, has been able to solve the issue, mainly due to hard liners on either side, though more so on the Republican side. I still remember Mitt Romney’s solution back in 2012. All the illegals go back to their country of origin and apply legally. THUMP!
All sides admit it is in crisis mode. The Republicans feel this could be a winning issue for them, come November. As it stood last week, they would be right. The Senate, in a bipartisan effort are cobbling together a bill that would severely reduce immigration to 2,000 a month, so they claim. Joe Biden says he will support this, even though it would result in stringent measures and would cost him some support from the far left. Trump has warned Republicans not to approve any bill because he wants immigration to be an issue in November. Of course. Meanwhile, Mike Johnson (who) says any bill from the Senate would be DOA in the House, based on his false claim that the bill would still allow 1.5. million immigrants, per year.
There you have it. Biden has outplayed and out maneuvered the Republicans in the past. I think he will do so again. Biden is showing compromise. The Republican House and Trump is showing intransigence. Let’s see.
