The Senate reached a bipartisan agreement on funding for the border, for Ukraine and for Israel, over the weekend. The agreement includes stiff measures to decrease the flow of illegal immigrants, from South if the border and has a $20 billion price tag to go with it. President Biden had only asked for $14 billion in border funding
The Senate worked months to cobble this deal together. Yet, Donald Trump is commanding that the deal not be passed. Trump does not want Biden to have any credit for a border deal. He did the same thing with the Infrastructure deal a couple of years ago. That deal was passed. House Republicans who voted for the deal were mercilessly attacked by Trump.
Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, said that the border deal would be dead on arrival. He said this even before seeing the deal. His reason for doing so is that dictator in waiting Trump told not to pass the detail.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is struggling given the lack of funding support that would be made available if this deal was passed. The House is working on a separate deal for funding for Israel. Nothing for Ukraine. Then again Trump is good buddies with former KGB agent Putin.
