Cancel Parades?

America, do you realize how bad you look to the rest of the world? Kansas City held a Super Bowl victory parade for their beloved Chiefs. Schools were closed and a million people showed up for the parade. A day of celebration ended in grief when one person was shot dead and 22 injured, half of them children.

Shots had also been fired at victory parades for the Texas Rangers and the Denver Nuggets, in the past year.

Sooner or later, conversations will start (have already started) over ending such celebratory parades. But why stop there. Four people were killed at a July 4th parade, in Illinois, a few years back. Maybe all parades should be halted.

But why stop there With all the mass shootings at schools and places of worship, maybe all teaching and worship should be done online. Forget going to the movies. You can watch movies at home. Where does it stop?

It is only February, but already there has been 45 mass shootings in the US. For every gun play incident, the victims who survive, the families of the deceased and anyone else in the vicinity of the shootings will be forever traumatized. Forever.

There are many who say that the gun control debate ended after Sandy Hook, when America decided that guns were more important than kids. One commentator said that this is the reality of our culture. No. This is the reality of the American culture. For those hypocrites who will give the standard thoughts and payers, I say

“F#%k your thoughts and prayers!”
