This is Lisa Murkowski. She is a Republican Senator from the great State of Alaska. She has been a Senator since 2002. She is now fed up with Donald Trump and is thinking of becoming an Independent.
She was one of seven Republican Senators to vote to impeach Trump, after January 6. She voted against Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court. Despite that, she was re-elected in 2022. She supported Nikki Haley for President, during Haley’s campaign. This is what she thinks about Trump’s nomination.
“I wish that as Republicans, we had … a nominee that I could get behind. I certainly can’t get behind Donald Trump.”
Perhaps the last straw for Murkowski was when Trump gave ‘bloodbath’ speech where he promised to release the January 6 ‘patriot hostages’ from prison,
“I don’t think that it can be defended. What happened on January 6 was … an effort by people who stormed the building in an effort to stop an election certification of an election. It can’t be defended.”
Hopefully, she is an indicator that more Republicans are seeing the light about Trump. Time will tell.
