Just Awesome

Sourced from Washington Post website

In all honesty, I have never been that big on women’s basketball. For me, on the men’s side, basketball is 4th in my list of things to watch, after football, hockey and baseball. Basketball, I will watch the Raptors (not so much this year) and will start following college basketball during tournament time. If you ask me who won the last WNBA championship, I honestly would not be able to tell you.

Well, I am starting to watch more of it now. More like one team. More like one player. That would be Caitlin Clark from the University of Iowa.

I have watched some of her tournament games and last night, in an Elite Eight game, against Louisiana State, I watched her sink nine three point shots and 41 points, in total, leading Iowa to a win.

Put it simply, she was awesome. Her three point made shots, literally blew me away. She did it all, shooting and setting up plays for her teammates. She not only had 41 points, she had 12 assists. So, Clark was involved in over 2/3 of Iowa’s points.

She has literally transformed the sport of women’s college basketball and she has filled seats. The only person that I can compare her to, that so dominated a sport and immediately drew fans to the arena and to television, is Wayne Gretzky. She is that awesome.

Her final four game against traditional power, UCONN, is this Friday night, and I will be watching.
