Leafs Fallen Again

I will admit the back of the 1970s the 80s and part of the 90s, while living in Ontario, I was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. That changed when I moved out West. Leaf will remember that the 80s were terrible under Harold Ballard. Though they did have a couple good runs in the early 90s with Dougie Gilmore.

The leafs have not won a Stanley Cup since 1967. Over the past ten years, they felt that they were at the point that they would break that drought They drafted or Druin big dame players like Matthews, Marner and Tavares However, while always making the playoffs, they always seem to get knocked out in the first round. The most painful example of this was when they had a three goal lead in Boston in game seven in 2013. Even worse, the three goal lead was in the third period, yet they lost.

They only won one first round series and something like the last 20 years. Yesterday was one of those make or break situations again. Game seven in Boston they got a one to nothing lead in the third period but then Boston tied it up, and they went into overtime.

Now I am in a few hockey pools where I have a number of Boston Bruins players. For my pools, Boston win would be advantageous to me. yet I remember all my years as a leaf fan. I could not bear to watch the overtime and see the leafs lose again in heartbreaking fashion. So I shut the TV and I went to bed.

This morning I woke up and found out that the leaves lost again to add another year of heartbreak to Maple Leaf fans

Leaf fans and I know there are some of you out there. I truly feel your pain. I truly feel bad for you. I really do. It might be time be time for you guys and gals to follow another team. Meanwhile, I will watch the Oilers as they continue their run for the cup.
