In one of my chirps last week, I mentioned that the prosecution would love to have a rabbi or a nun as a key witness. When you are in a criminal environment your key witness is usually going to be someone with a criminal past even. murderers.
Michael Cohen is not a saint. The prosecution knew that going in. The prosecution when they had their direct cross of Cohen, pointed out the lies and acts of potential criminality that Cohen committed, while he was working for Trump. The prosecution should’ve done a better job.
Last Thursday, the defence team question Cohan on the phone call in which Trump supposedly gave approval to Cohen to pay Stormy Daniels. It turns out that specific call may have been about a 14-year-old who was harassing Michael Cohen.
This morning, the prosecution raised, and Cohen eventually admitted that Cohen had stolen money from the Trump organization. Specifically there was a $50,000 payment to a client in which the client only received $20,000, with pocketing the rest.
At the present time, Cohen’s credibility is shot. the prosecution has an unenviable task of cleaning up Cohen’s testimony on the redirect. if they can’t, the trial will end up with a hung jury. All it takes is one juror out of 12 for this to happen. It does not look good.
