With respect to school shootings, the Republicans have officially hit rock bottom. according to JD Vance it is now a fact of life.
“I don’t like this. I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you’re, if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools.”
Of course, the Harris team gave a harsh response, as they should have,
“School shootings are not just a fact of life. It doesn’t have to be this way. We can take action to protect our children—and we will.”
republicans believe it is more important to protect children’s minds by banning books that it is to protect their lives. The books they ban or want banned would expand the minds of kids, while the gun they don’t want to control, like AR 15s, end the lives of kids.
They keep talking about responsible gunowners. Well, they’re sure are a lot of irresponsible gunowners around these days. The father of the 14 year-old who did the shooting, has now been charged. Police had already advised the parents of the 14-year-old of previous threats he had made. Yet after that happened, the father bought the 14-year-old gun that was used in the shooting. Let us not forget the six-year-old in Virginia last year who shot his teacher. The mother of that six-year-old was charged. So were the parents of the 15 year-old involved in a school shooting in Michigan where people died.
Republicans talk about mental health involved in the shootings. Yet, constantly, Republicans will vote down extra funding for mental health initiative.
Will this will this chirp change anything? No, not at all. Did Columbine change anything? No, it did not. Did Sandy Hook change anything? No, it did not.
The only thing that could have a chance of changing anything is a Democrat President with the Democrat House and Senate to support the President. for now, however, the Republicans are accepting this as a fact of life.
