Today is our day. It is Canada Day, July 1. We became a country, in 1867, 158 years ago, if my math is right. I remember many, many years ago, when it was called Dominion Day, where we had an inferiority complex, a little brother complex to our neighbour to the south. Well, that is no more.
Countries envy us now. Americans envy us now. They wish they were us now. When they go abroad, they wear Canada T-shirts, just to avoid harassment. Thanks to Donald Trump the patriotic fervour in Canada is as high as it probably ever has been. Canada never 51 T-shirts are flying off the racks. I have two of them myself. Canada flags are being sold like never before. We are Canada and we are freaking proud being Canadian.
Happy birthday to us, eh.
