NOAA stands for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The National Weather Service (NWS) is the division under NOAA. This branch of Trump administration was subject to massive cuts initiated by Trump and his former BFF, Elon Musk. This branch is a shadow of what it previously was.
There was a flash flood in Central Texas over the weekend. So far at least 82 lives have been lost, many of them, children, who were at a summer camp beside the Guadalupe river. There are stories of heroic rescues and ongoing heroic efforts in search of survivors with these efforts, being endured under terrible conditions.
Texas governor Abbott and his cronies are out in the media praising the efforts that are being taken and well they should. What they are avoiding, are questions as to whether those injured and killed could’ve gotten more advanced warning of the flash flood situation. This cannot be shoved under the table. What steps could’ve been taken to prevent this massive fatality event. There are stories going around that the NWS in the area was undermanned at the night of the rain storm. The reason, if true, might be directly related to the Trump cuts.
Most likely, a federal emergency management administration (FEMA) will be called in to help with the relief efforts. Oh wait, no maybe not. This was another branch that Trump cut deeply. That’s right, Trump wants the states to handle disasters now. A lot of these disasters will be occurring in red states, vulnerable to weather like flash, floods, and hurricanes.
To Trump voters. You should not have ignored that old saying, ‘ be careful what you wish for you might just get it’
