The Jimmy Kimmel show is on way too late for me, so I put it on PVR and I put it on this morning before I even went to the phone to check the Internet. I was not disappointed with his monologue.
The message of his speech was basically the protection of the First Amendment and protection of free speech. He used videos of FCC chairman Brendan Carr and Donald Trump to show their own hypocrisy. Both videos stress, the importance of free speech. He gave clear indication that he was not going to change his style. He made amends with the Kirk family, clarified that in no way was he trying to diminish the murder of Charlie Kirk. Instead it was the reaction by Republicans in playing it up to serve their needs.
These are some of Jimmy Kimmel’s words.
“This show is not important. What is important is that we get to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this.”
“He tried his best to cancel me. Instead he forced millions of people to watch the show. That backfired bigly. He might have to release the Epstein files to distract us from this now.”
How did Donald Trump react? He reacted as he usually did. He reacted after his own version of free speech, where he insulted the world in a rambling 45 minute speech at the United Nations.
“Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE.”
This whole affair is turning out badly for Trump. It is not only people on the left standing up for Kimmel. Kimmel is getting support from unlikely corners such as Ted Cruz, Tucker, Carlson, Rand Paul and even Joe Rogan.
Trump wants this to end with a bang with him winning. It is just as likely that it will end up with a whimper with his tail between his legs.
That is all I have for today.
