Awkward

Baseball has been called America’s pastime. Yet it will be a Canadian team playing against the Los Angeles Dodgers for the World Series title.

You may have noticed that there has been a bit of tension between our two countries in the last little while. Most of it has to do with Donald Trump and his tariffs and his desire to make Canada a 51st state. So Canada has lost our reputation for politeness and has adopted a sort of in your face mentality with regard to our neighbour to the south. Again, this is mostly due to our anger at Donald Trump. But then again, what were you guys thinking when you voted him in?

The Blue Jays last won the World Series back in 1993, when Joe Carter hit his game-winning ‘ touch em all Joe’ home run. This year the Blue Jays got their ticket to the World Series by a very similar George Springer home run in the eighth inning.

Game one of the World Series is this Friday. Canada will be united in supporting a team full of players, born and raised outside of Canada, against the heavily favoured Los Angeles Dodgers.

Meanwhile, in the US, many Americans will be supporting the Dodgers, just because of what Trump did in sending the National Guard to Los Angeles.

It is common custom for the winner of the World Series to be invited to the White House, in recognition of the World Series win. I want the Blue Jays to win just for that fact. Can you imagine Donald Trump congratulating a Canadian base team for winning the World Series, America’s pastime. Awkward.

That is all I have for today.
