I am absolutely sick to my stomach of world leaders, including our own, sucking up to the child that is the president of the United States. I can understand why it’s being done, but it doesn’t make my stomach feel any better.
Donald Trump, after the Doug Ford tariff flap, said that he had met with Mark Carney, and that Mark Carney had apologized to him for the tariff ad.
“I have a very good relationship [with Carney]. I like him a lot, but what they did was wrong. He was very nice. He apologized”
Then, Trump added,
“It was a false commercial. It was the exact opposite — Ronald Reagan loved tariffs.”
NOOOO, REAGAN DID NOT LOVE TARIFFS. THAT IS A COMPLETE LIE!!!!
I apologize for yelling. Reagan was defending the levying of tariffs against Japan in a specific case. Reagan was a free trader. Those were his words that he used in the ad. Reagan did not love tariffs. But the baby after hearing the ad decided to cut off negotiations with Canada and add another 10% tariff.
After reading what Trump said, I was hoping that Trump took Carney’s words out of context. I was hoping that Carney did not really apologize, but that Trump heard what Trump wanted to hear. Then I read what Mark Carney actually said, afterwards.
“The president was offended by the act, or by the ad, rather, It’s not something I would have done — which is to put in place that advertisement — and so I apologized to him.”
My blood pressure has just shot up again. I understand why Mark Carney had to apologize. Trump is a baby, World leaders have to treat him like a spoiled little child, who hates not getting his way. He always has to be flattered. He always has to be told that he is the bestest ever. I understand it, but it is hard to stomach.
Sometime in the near future, BC will be putting out anti-tariff ads in the United States regarding soft wood lumber. These will be digital ads, rather than television commercials. But Trump will hear of it, and he will react. So Mark Carney is probably going to have to do more dancing with the spoiled little brat.
That’s all I can stomach for today.
