Pete Hegseth is in familiar territory, once again. He is in the land of deep Doodoo. This relates to the double tap missile attack on an alleged drug boat, in the Caribbean, on September 2. What was done was a war crime. S missile attack on survivors clinging to the boat. Back in September, he said he watched the episode unfold. Now he is backtracking saying he had many other things to do and he left after the first attack. He is blaming a subordinate for the second attack. This is getting intense scrutiny on both sides of the aisle.
That was bad enough and it is pretty bad. But, Pete made it worse.
Brenda Clark and Paulette Bourgeois illustrated and wrote a series of preschool educational children’s books with the title character being Franklin the turtle. These Canadian books have also spawned a couple of TV series. The publisher, Kids Can Press, describes Franklin, this way
“Franklin the Turtle is a beloved Canadian icon who has inspired generations of children and stands for kindness, empathy, and inclusivity.”
Pete decided to use a meme featuring Franklin, over the weekend. Let’s just say it has not gone over well at all. Let’s just say that he’s probably going to get sued for unauthorized use of the Franklin character. Here’s the publisher again,
“We strongly condemn any denigrating, violent, or unauthorized use of Franklin’s name or image, which directly contradicts these values.”
Pete, whatever possessed you to do this? You have been subject to enough ridicule already. You are just bringing it down on yourself now. What will your next trick be? Santa, on his sleigh, using his reindeer to crap all over the boats? Why not? Trump has already done it in a fighter jet dropping crap on no Kings protesters. The two of you should get together, don’t you think?
That is all I can stomach for today.
