90 years ago, German citizens feared the Gestapo. American citizens now fear ICE. 90 years ago, the Gestapo could enter homes without a warrant and take people away from those homes. It is now happening in Minneapolis. 90 years ago, German citizens could be killed on the streets, by the Gestapo, without any charges being levied on the killer. The Trump administration is trying to do the same thing regarding the killers of Renée Goode and Alex Pretti.
The comparisons are striking. School attendance is down, in Minneapolis, because many kids are afraid to go to school when there are ICE agents just blocks away. Parents are making sure that when their kid leaves the house that they have documentation proving that they are American citizens, to avoid being taken off the streets.
