John Ivison is a political journalist on the National Post, a major right wing newspaper in Canada. He is a super pro right winger. Following, Canada, walking away from the trade negotiations and following Mark Carney’s press conference, Saturday morning, all the premieres of Canada’s provinces and territories gave full support to Mark Carney, except for one. Sadly it is our own premier, Daniel Smith. Of course it is.
Smith is in a trap. She has set up an environment for herself such that half her supporters are separatists who would not be totally displeased with becoming a 51st state. She has already said that if there is a yes on the October 19 vote, she will hold a referendum on separation. She will hold it as soon as next Spring. So we can see what her stripes are. That would be the stripes on the US flag.
Canada, this Albertan, is fully supportive of the decision made by Mark Carney to pull out of the negotiations and to impose retaliatory tariffs on September 8. All the provinces and territories will be behind Mark Carney, and team Canada. Unfortunately, our province because of Daniel Smith, will be on the sidelines.
That’s all I have.
