The tariff war continues. There is a definite divergence of approach between Danielle Smith and Mark Carney.
Mark Carney, in his press conference, the day after Donald Trump imposed his latest round of tariffs on Canada, put it quite simply. He said that we are being attacked and we are at war. He left no doubt, as to where Canada stands on the attacks by Donald Trump. Donald Trump keeps calling Mark Carney ‘ governor’. Donald Trump keeps referring to Canada as a 51st state. Donald Trump wants to destroy Canada, plain and simple.
Mark Carney’s approval rating, on this issue, is around 75%. He is definitely taking the Canada strong elbows up approach. Meanwhile, Donald Trump gets angrier and more frustrated every day. The same thing with his lap dog, Howard Lutnick.
Danielle Smith, on the other hand, rather than take a team Canada approach, as all the other premiers are taking, is taking a team Alberta approach. She says we need to double down on negotiations. She says tariffs are bad. She says that Alberta oil is off the table. She is appeasing the separatists, many who want Alberta to become a 51st state.
Well, Danielle, you know who else took an appeasement approach. Neville Chamberlain with Adolf Hitler. That did not turn out too
well did it? Chamberlain sold out Czechoslovakia to Hitler. Now you want to sell out Canada. You are even going to the states this week to negotiate. I don’t know with who. You’re most likely going to try and sell out Canada
Danielle Smith, you disgust me. You and your separatist followers.
That’s all I have
