Greene asked her if she was a mother. The witness explained her situation. Greene then made one of the most insensitive statements she has ever made And, for her, that is saying a lot. Greene said that the witness was

“…not a medical doctor, not a biological mother, and really not a teacher either, … People like you need to admit that you’re just a political activist, not a teacher, not a mother, and not a medical doctor.”

Greene had just called all the adoptive mom’s in the world as not real mothers. She did.

Democrats, on the Committee raised objections. Here is one example.

“That was not just cruel, personal attacks to Mrs. Weingarten,…it is reflective of the cruel, personal attacks to any adoptive mother or father who loves their children … who love them dearly and see them as their own.” 

The chairman, Republican Jim Jordan, noted the objections and put it on record. Greene’s statement was also stricken from the record.

This is personal to me. I know adoptive mothers and THEY ARE just as much of a mother as biological mothers.
