Bin Laden was killed in 2011. Yet the Americans remained in Afghanistan for another ten plus years. Over 4,000 American lives were lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, Afghanistan is under Taliban control and Iraq is a mess with Iran having influence. Actions have consequences. Remember Viet Nam? There were 150,000 American lives lost and for what. While not allies the US does trade with Viet Nam today.

Three American servicemen died from an Iranian backed militant group drone attack last weekend. Iranian backed militants have launched 160 attacks on US forces since the Hamas attack on Israel, on October 7. Republican hawks want blood. US intelligence indicates that Iran is worried about what their proxy groups have done. The Middle East is a powder keg right now. Biden has to do something. However, it has to be measured. Hopefully, the response can be done such that the Iranian Religious regime is weakened within Iran. Whatever Biden does the ghosts if Iran, Afghanistan and Viet Nam must be in the fore front.
