Big Bites

Hamas attacked Israel almost a year ago leaving 1200 dead. There are still 101 hostages in Gaza. Yet, Benjamin Netanyahu’s popularity is on the upswing. Much of it is because of the attacks that Israel have launched lately.

Back, in April, Israel attacked the Iranian embassy in Syria killing the top commander. A bombing run, in July, in Beirut, killed a top Hezbollah official. The exploding pagers and walkie-talkies, in Beirut, killed a number of top Hezbollah, military people. Another airstrike, last week, killed the leader of Hezbollah. There have been a number of aggressive airstrikes in Beirut targeting top Hezbollah officials. A couple of days ago they launched airstrikes in Yemen targeting Houthi positions. There are now reports of ground incursions into Lebanon. Meanwhile, the occupation of Gaza continues.

It seems that Israel wants to eliminate Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis in one fell swoop. They are now officially on a three front war.

This action risks bringing in more countries into the conflict. How much longer will Iran wait until they feel they need to act? If Iran enters then what next. Is Israel stretching itself too thin. If they eliminate Hamas from Gaza, what is the peacekeeping role going to look like for Israel? Substantial resources will be needed.

There are so many variables at play now it is frightening.
