Justin Trudeau might announce, as soon as today, that he will be stepping down as Prime Minister. I am sure he feels that he has not finished his job, but the polls are against him. The question is, if it is his intention to step down, how would it be done?
Will he step down immediatelyand have the liberal party select an interim Prime Minister? Or will he remain as Prime Minister until a leadership convention is held and the new Prime Minister is selected?
The Liberal Party do not want to have a rushed leadership race. They would want at least a three or four month race so that the candidates, who enter the race, become known with their proposed policies put out to the public. Even after the race is concluded the Liberal Party would want a few months for the candidate to become known to the public. We all saw what happened with Kamala Harris, south of us. While this is what the Liberal Party wants, logistics might dictate otherwise. A general election must be held this year. Also, the government could be brought down at any time.
The next few months will be an interesting time. All I got for today.
