But It Is June

It is too depressing to chirp about politics today. Trump sending in Marines. Protest expanding from Los Angeles. Trump and Elon on the way to being buddy buddy again.

On a different note. When I was a kid, the Stanley Cup playoff ended in April. There would still be snow on the ground. We would still be playing ball hockey on the streets. Too cold to play baseball or basketball. We go to school play ball hockey after school and then watch the playoffs. If we were lucky, our parents would let us watch the whole game even though school was the next day. There was none of this afternoon hockey on tv stuff. Games were always at night. Where I lived it started at 8 o’clock and went to around 10:30. Oh, and the furthest team south was in New York City with the New York Rangers.

Well, tomorrow is game four of the Stanley Cup finals. June 12. If it goes to game seven, the playoffs will end on June 20. June the freaking 20th.

Kids here northern Alberta are playing baseball or basketball on the courts. That is if they can go out because it’s too smoky outside from forest freaking fires. Game four is going to be in southern Florida. That’s right southern Florida. Where the temperature will be 90°F.

Well why not? If you can have the Super Bowl in mid February. If you can have the World Series ending in early November. Why the freaking not?

I feel like Oscar the Grouch today. Getting out of the wrong side of the bed. All I can say is the Oilers better freaking win tomorrow night.

That is all I have for today.
