It Sucks

ok

Let me preface this by saying that I’m a Detroit Tigers fan? anEdmonton Oilers fan and the Detroit Lions fan. All three have been in the playoffs at least the last two years, including the Oilers, who have lost two Stanley Cup finals, including a final that went to game seven, two years ago.

Once my tigers got knocked out of the playoffs, being Canadian and occasionally following the Blue Jays I adopted the Blue Jays as my team to go all the way. The Blue Jays had an exciting playoffs. They spanked the Yankees and came back from a three games to two deficit to win the last two games in Seattle. They had a three games to twolead over the Dodgers. The last two games were at home. They lost both. The seventh game they lost in heartbreaking, extra inning, fashion.

Going through social media, yesterday and this morning, I am seeing a lot of thank you Blue Jays posts. I guess I can understand that even I had the same sentiment in the Oilers first Stanley Cup final, two years ago and the Lions national football championship game loss, two years ago. However, when both teams got knocked out of the playoffs last year and the Tigers again this year, I was not in a thank you spirit. This can be a once in a lifetime experience to win the overall championship in the sport you follow. As Toronto Maple Leafs fans can tell you, having not won a Stanley Cup since 1967.

Somehow, if the Blue Jays do make it to the World Series next year, and lose again, I don’t think there will be as many gratitude posts

Having said that, it was a great year for the Blue Jays and I congratulate them for how far they went.

That’s all I have for today.
