Double Dog Dare You

Prior to the budget being announced, yesterday, the liberals were three votes, short of a majority. So, if all the parties voted against the budget, in a nonconfidence vote, the government would fall, and an election would be called, just a few short months past the last election.

Then, surprise surprise conservative member Chris d’Entremont, resigned from the conservative party and crossed the floor to the liberal party.

Now, the liberals need only two votes outside of their party for the budget to be passed. Elizabeth May of the green party has already said she won’t vote for the budget unless changes were made. The Bloc Québécois have already indicated that they won’t support the budget. So that leaves the seven member NDP party, led by interim leader, Don Davies, and the conservative party.

The budget includes community project funding for communities that are represented by three of the seven NDP members, including Heather, McPherson of Edmonton Strathcona. Now the budget is more of a business budget than the NDP would usually support. But would those three NDP members really vote against funding for their communities. It is obviously a liberal bribe. But all is fair in politics

So let’s say all three NDP members with the remaining four NDP members mom do vote against the federal budget. That leaves Pierre Poilievre (PP) and the conservative party. Right now, PP’s favourability rating is at a low point. No matter what he believes, Mark Carney is still enjoying a honeymoon, especially dealing with Donald Trump in the states. Voters would be relatively unhappy with a Christmas election, only eight months after the last election. Right now Mark Carney is saying to Pierre I double dog dare you to vote against the budget. Pierre is hoping that the three NDP members do not fall on their swords and support the budget. But if they don’t, he has a big decision to make.

That’s all I have today.
