Meltdown

First of all, I did not have inside information when I discussed the boxes of files that Trump took from the White House to Mar-a-lago, in yesterday’s chirp. Second of all, I guess Trump did not return all the boxes, as I mentioned yesterday.

This is early days, in fact, early hours, but the shock waves of the raid yesterday are already crashing inside and outside of the US. All one needs to do is go through the twitterverse and see the extreme reactions on both sides of the fence. Trump haters are jumping for joy. Trump lovers arte literally freaking out, starting right at the top.

Donald Trump called the raid “…prosecutorial (he needed help to spell that word right) misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System”. House leader Kevin McCarthy warned Attorney General Merrick Garland to “preserve your documents and clear your calendar”. Talk about irony, given Trump’s penchant to destroy documents. Marjorie Taylor Greene called the raid “rogue behavior of communist countries…”

Fox Propoganda (also known as Fox News) went ballistic and went on full propoganda mode. As an example, one guest on Laura Ingraham’s show stated that Republicans need to “dismantle the FBI into a thousand bits”. Chris Wray, the FBI Director was attacked mercilessly. Wray is a Trump appointee. To put it mildly, cooler heads have not prevailed.

A couple of things need to be pointed out. The raid was conducted with a judge approved warrant, which suggests that the FBI had probable grounds that a crime had been committed. Second, Trump has a number of incestigations being conducted on him, many of which could result in charges themselves. That being said, one of the phrases being used this morning is “crossing the rubicon”. Republicans, along with conservative media, are having a meltdown without knowing the basis of the raid. The tension is already sky high. Prior to this happening, numerous officials have already been threatened. The risk of someone getting hurt or killed has now increased dramatically. Trump, if he was a responsible person, would be cooling off the rhetoric instead of doing what he is doing. Let’s hope things calm down. I don’t see it happening though.
