Hateful

This six band rainbow flag represents the LGBTQ community. I was torn between using this image or an image of Tucker Carlson. Five people were gunned down on Saturday night at an LGBTQ bar in Colorado Springs. People flocked there because it was seen as a safe place, from the hatred directed at the LGBTQ community. It was safe until Saturday when a 22 year old man, with a history of violence gunned down five people before being wrestled to the ground.

Tucker Carlson on his show, Monday night, stated that “violence and cruelty should always horrify us” Nice try Tucker. For years, on his show, he has been spewing hatred towards the LGBTQ community. For example, he has talked about how drag queens are sexualizing and harming children. But that pales in comparison to his statements that America should fight back against the LGBTQ community, regardless of what the law says. LGBTQ advocates, for months, have been begging influencers such as Carlson to tone down the rhetoric, or people would get hurt. Here it is. How do you sleep at night, Tucker?

On the Monday, after the shooting, at the top of the hour, I checked CNN, MSNBC and FOX to see what the lead story would be. Of course, CNN and MSNBC, each hour, led off with the Colorado Springs shooting. FOX, led off with a possible train strike and the murders of the four students in Idaho. There was one hour where they did lead off with the Colorado Springs shooting, but they quickly switched to other topics. According to Media Matters, Fox accounted for only 10% of the Colorado Springs new coverage when compared with CNN and MSNBC. Not surprised at all. FOX, you disgust me.
