Trying to come up with a title for today’s chirp. The title, above, was the only thing I could come up with. The NRA had their annual convention, last weekend, in Indiana. First irony, attendees were not allowed to bring guns into the convention site. Second irony, this convention was still a go despite the highly publicized lass shootings that recently took place in Kentucky and Tennessee.
The picture above is a six year old boy, pointing a gun at the picture taker. Six years old. Get them young. Most of the Republican Presidential candidates gave speeches, boasting their loyalty to the second amendment. Donald Trump said that guns are not the problem. he doubled down by saying,
“I was proud to be the most pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment president you’ve ever had in the White House. And with your support in 2024, I will be your loyal friend and fearless champion once again as the 47th president of the United States.”
Krist Noem, the Republican Governor of South Dakota. in her speech, boasted that her two year old grandchild already had a rifle and a shotgun.
“Now Addie, who you know – soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and she’s got a little pony named Sparkles too. So the girl is set up,”
Where do I go from here. Hence the title of the chirp. I honestly don’t know what to say. Meanwhile, in the real world, there were seven mass shootings, in the US, on Saturday, the most of any day, this year. Four people were killed in a sweet sixteen birthday party in Alabama. A 16 year old Black teenager knocked at the door of the wrong house and got shot twice by an 84 year old White male. Somehow, he survived, but will live with the trauma for the rest of his life. A twenty year old woman pulled into a driveway in upstate New York and was shot and killed. This all happened in the last couple of days.
I got nothing.
