Republicans had a three ring circus this week

In Ring one was the ringmaster himself, Donald Trump. He and his team performed two acts. In Washington, earlier this week, his lawyer at Court of Appeals hearing pretty well said that if. President ordered Seal Team 6 to rub out a political opponent and was not impeached he would have immunity. That went over like a leaf balloon. Then on Thursday, Trump was allowed to speak during closing statements where he said the same old blah, blah, blah. His lawyer was told to get Trump under control and Trump was finally cut off after five minutes

In ring two, the Republicans had a House Committee meeting Wednesday to vote on whether a contempt case on Hunter Biden should be forwarded to the DOJ for failing to appear at a hearing in response to a subpoena. Hunter had wanted to appear, but in a public hearing, rather than a private hearing, where Republicans are known to distort what was said in private. As the Wednesday hearing started, Hunter showed up. It went downhill from there. Names were called. Insults were tossed. One Republican wanted Hunter jailed immediately. One democrat reminded Republicans of those Republicans who had ignored January 6 Committee hearings such as Jordan, Meadows and Biggs. Republicans were told that Hunter was there so they could ask questions now. They did not. Circus

In ring three is new House Speaker Mike Johnson. Over the Christmas break he negotiated a temporary budget deal with Senate Democrats to keep the government open. Trouble is, it is pretty much the same deal that cost Kevin McCarthy his Speakership. Of course the hard line conservatives are extremely pissed off and there is now talk of kicking Johnson out of the Speaker seat.

I would definitely not buy tickets to this circus
