it has almost been a year now since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. There appears to be no end in site as ceasefire negotiations drag on and 100 people still remain hostage.
Along with Hamas, Israel remains in hostilities with Hezbollah. Hezbollah, supported by Iran, is based in Lebanon. That conflict took a you new turn this week with walkie-talkies and pagers possessed by Hezbollah members exploding. So far at least 45 people have been killed and thousands injured.
Hezbollah for years communicated with each other by cell phone. They shunned cell phones because Israel attract them and attack Hezbollah targets. So that went to walkie-talkie and pagers because they were less trackable. These were their main tool for communicating with each other for coordinating attack against Israel. well, this is no longer available to them.
Questions remain as to how Israel was able to insert explosives into the pagers and walkie-talkies in the supply chain and how they managed to get them into the hands of Hezbollah. That being said. Hezbollah has vowed retaliation. But with their main tools of communication and coordination now gone, it will be difficult for them to do so.
It has been said that Israel picked this week to launch this attack because they were concerned that Hezbollah were close to discovering that their pagers and walkie-talkies were lethal weapons. Israel was rumoured to coordinate this attack with an overall attack on Hezbollah until her hand was forced this week.
Obviously tensions have increased dramatically this week after this attack. nobody really knows where this goes from here.
