It was one year ago today that Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel that resulted in 1200 dead and over 250 people take hostage. Israel had the sympathy of the world for that heinous attack. Hamas was crowing at its audacious victory.
Well, Hamas is reaping what it has sown. A year later, Israel is determined to rid itself of Hamas once and for all. Israel has done a pretty good job destroying the Hamas tunnels and their infrastructure. but in doing so 40,000 people have died and Israel has lost the world’s sympathy. Israel may be winning the battle against Hamas, but the outcome of the war is uncertain. What will happen in Gaza, once hostilities end. Nobody knows.
Hamas attacking Israel on October 7, has opened up a Pandora’s box. Israel took a hammer to a Hamas and is now attempting to do the same to Hezbollah. This has resulted in the deaths of thousands in Lebanon and a potential limited ground incursion into Lebanon by Israel. Israel has also launched airstrikes into Yemen.
Iran, in retaliation of Israel weakening their proxies launched 180 missiles into Israel. Israel will retaliate, but how and when is still unknown. Given that today is the one year anniversary it could be today.
Given the hammer that Israel has already wielded, it might be looking at regime change in Iran. But that would need a full-scale attack and that is the last thing wanted. Nobody, absolutely nobody, wants this conflict to grow more than it already has.
The world hold its breath.
