What Next?

Today is my break day from politics. When I read a headline that says Democrats in uproar over Biden, pardon of his son, nope, just nope. Like Trump is gonna pardon January 6 insurrectionists, so, whatever.

Detroit Lions finished last year 12 and five. They had a much rougher schedule this year and I figured at best they would be 11 and six or 12 and five. Yet, here we are, the Lions are already 11 and one. The Lions in their franchise history have never been 11 and one. Right now they are aiming for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs until the Super Bowl. Any Lions fan from five years ago could never imagine having said that. Yet here we are.

One big problem though. This team has been decimated by injuries. Half the Lions defence consist of players who are not even on the Lions team at the beginning of training camp. With any luck, and with Dan Campbell’s magic, the Lions could still achieve home-field advantage. They could afford to lose to Buffalo a week and a half from now win out the remaining games and retain home-field advantage. By the time the playoffs start some of their starters will be back, which would bode well for them for the playoffs. That means that the game against Green Bay this Thursday will be pivotal to the lions having any chance at home-field advantage through the playoffs.

For long suffering Lions fans this is a nice feeling to have. A key game near the end of the season, not for a chance to get into the playoffs, but a chance to have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

That is all I got for today.
