Syriaous

The Assad family, in Syria, had maintain a brutal autocratic rule of that country for 50 years. All of a sudden, within a week, the government has fallen and Assad has fled.

Russia was a key ally of the Assad regime. Syria offered Russia a warm weather port. Iran, with its proxy, Hezbollah, was a key all of the Assad regime. All that is gone now.

Iran has been occupied with the Israeli war for the last year. Russia has been occupied with Ukraine war the last few years. They both took the ball off Syria and now Syria has fallen.

This has sent shockwaves throughout the Middle East and also to global dynamics. The leader of the rebel forces, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani was a former member of Al-Qaeda. In fact, USS placed a $10 million bounty on him. The group that he leads has been designated as a terrorist group.

Jolani, in recent weeks, has tried to moderate his image. He says that Syria will be ruled by the people what that means. To show how complicated the situation is, the takeover. by Jolani, has been praised by both European leaders and by the Taliban.

If anybody says they know how this will all turn out, they are lying. No one knows how this will turn out. Right now, everybody is jockeying for position internally and externally. Syria has suffered under brutal rule for 50 years. One can only hope that this will change.

That’s all I got for today.
