Believe it or not, Donald Trump became president only one month ago. It feels like it’s been years but it’s only been one month. If democracy still exists in the states in 2028, that means Trump has another 47 months. that is right, only one month gone and 47 more excruciating months to get through.

The world has changed in that one month. Russia used to be America’s enemies, now their best buddies. With plane crashes occurring on a more regular basis, Trump is cutting down the FAA resource mix. America has a vaccine denial as its new head of health and human services a Fox News anchor as defence secretary, and total incompetents as head of the FBI and head of the DNI. You would think Trump is a Russian asset.

Trump has gutted the government and will continue to do so with his friend Elon Musk at the side Trump has declared a tariff war against the world, including Canada. Trump has turned in the US from an ally of the western world to a pariah.

Trump has changed Canada too. A new wave of patriotism is sweeping through the country. Canada has reclaimed the flag from the freedom convoyers. A month ago the conservatives had a 22 point lead on the liberals as to who would run the next government. Polling is now showing a gap of 8 to 10% depending on the polls. One poll shows a 3% difference in a Pierre Poilievre – Mark Carney head to head race. for the liberals, Donald Trump is a gift that keeps giving every day.

But still, 47 more excruciating months. If all of this change has happened in just one month, I fear what the world will look like 47 months from now.
