First of all, we are not Trump‘s America. Trump‘s America, is a place where anything goes, threats can be made and insults run wild. We all remember Trump mocking is disabled reporter ‘I can’t rememberrrr’.
This chirp is a bit complicated so I will try and keep it short and simple. Paul Chiang is seeking reelection in the riding of Markham-Unionville. He is a liberal candidate. Joe Tay, representing the conservatives was seeking nomination as a candidate in the same riding. He has switched to another riding, and is the conservative candidate for Don Valley North. Tay immigrated from Hong Kong. When he was in Hong Kong, he was an anti-communist Chinese protester/agitator. The Chinese government put a bounty on him of approximately $184,000 Canadian.
Tay fled the country and has established a new life in Canada. Chiang, at a media event in January, suggested that anyone bringing Tay to the Chinese consulate in Toronto would be able to claim the $184,000 bounty reward. Chiang apologized for that comment later. But the damage has been done.
There have been calls to remove Chiang from the liberal ballot. Mark Carney is defending Chiang saying that Chiang has apologized for his remarks. Naturally PP has jumped in and now is saying that Carney is defending Chiang because Carney is beholden to the communist Chinese government
Remember, this is Canada. Remarks, even if claim to be made in a joking manner do matter. This is the case where Carney might want to take the hit, accept the loss and force Chiang off the ballot.
That is all I have for today.
