Remember, during the US election, when Donald Trump was saying that Americans would not be paying for the tariffs? Trump insisted that would be the foreign countries paying for the tariffs. How gullible Americans were. Then again Trump has been a con man all his life.
The game of tariff chicken continues. Last week, Trump levied an additional 34% tariff on all goods coming in from China. This is over and above the 20% had previously levied. China, in response, plans to launch reciprocal tariffs against the US. Donald Trump has indicated that if China does so, the US will launch an additional 50% tariff, on China. China has vowed to fight to the bitter end on this.
In addition, the EU, which has been hit hard by the US tariffs, is planning to retaliate with a 25% tariff on a number of goods coming in from the US. Can anyone say recession?
Worldwide stock markets are currently undergoing a nervous breakdown. The Dow Jones has lost nearly 10% of its value in just three days. This chirp is being done before the Dow Jones opens today. But based on futures, it appears that the Dow will have a major rebound today. But don’t think that the nervous breakdown is over, not by a longshot. Once the Chinese tariffs come into effect and if Trump does retaliate, there will be a major slide downward.
Did I mention that Russia did not get any tariffs at all, levied on it by Trump? Krasnov, Krasnov, Krasnov.
All I have for today. I feel a nervous breakdown coming.
