There was a spaghetti western movie made in 1973, starring Clint Eastwood, entitled, ‘High Plains Drifter’. Donald Trump, is now starring in his own feature that should be named, ‘ High Planes Grifter’.

Trump is set to receive a luxury $400 million plane, absolutely free, which replaces current Air Force One. Qatar is calling it, a government government transaction since technically it will be given to the pentagon. However, once Trump leaves office, the plane will be donated to Trump’s so-called presidential library. This means that Trump will have use of the plane once he leaves office. Why would a library need a plane? Queue in the soundtrack, from ‘High Plains Drifter’. For us older folk, the tune will come to our heads right away.

Never in the history of the United States has a president been gifted a $400 million gift. The words ethics and Trump just don’t coexist.

Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, labels the gift as follows

“Nothing says ‘America First’ like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar. It’s not just bribery, it’s premium foreign influence with extra legroom.”

America and its executive branches have bought this upon themselves. According to Kathleen Clark, a government ethics expert at the University of Washington school of law,

“Trump thinks he will get away with this $400 million payoff from Qatar because he got away with multiple emoluments clause violations in his first term, and neither Congress nor the court would enforce the Constitution’s anti-corruption clause.”

This smells so badly of grift that even right wing looney, Laura Loomer, is saying that this deal smells. Given the way things are in the states, right now, Trump would likely get away with this.
