Two State

The world was fairly unified behind Israel, after the October 7, Hamas attack . With all the stories of famine, in Gaza, of late, and of children dying from starvation this unification has broken down. In the US, support for the Israeli incursion, in Gaza, is down to a level of 32%, within independents it is only 25%.

Recently, France and the UK announced that they would recognize Palestinian Statewood if Israel did not pull out of Gaza. Yesterday, Mark Carney announced the same.

“Canada condemns the fact that the Israeli government has allowed a catastrophe to unfold in Gaza.”

Carney follow this up by saying that he would recognize Palestinian statehood, at the UN, in September

Donald Trump, did not take Mark Carney‘s announcement too well,

“Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them.”

Bullying tactics as usual. However, Trump is in a bit of a bind, given the changing winds of support for Israel in his own country.

What will result from all this? I am skeptical. Israeli Palestinian tensions have been a thing since I was a kid long long ago. I don’t think much will change. I hope I am wrong.

That is all I have for today.
