Donald Trump hates the affordable care act otherwise known as Obama care. He wants it destroyed. He wants it replaced with his own healthcare plan, which nobody, including Trump, has any idea what it would look like.

The sticking point, in the now monthlong government shut down, is the extension of Obama care subsidies. The Democrats want it included, in the short term budget, while the Republicans are willing to discuss it after this short term budget is passed. We all know who is giving the Republicans. their marching orders.

The consequences are growing. 40 million Americans face the loss of receiving needed food under the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP). Federal employees designated as essential , and, as such, are required to work, without pay, are working under increasing financial strain. This includes air traffic controllers, where an increasing number of flights are either disrupted or cancelled on a daily basis. Obama care recipients are receiving notices that their cost will increase by an average of 26% given that the subsidies are not being renewed, as of now. The entire federal employee work force are trying to figure out how to make mortgage and other bill payments, given no money coming in.

When will this be resolved? This is not a game. People‘s lives are being affected. It will only get worse from here, until the shutdown ends.
