No Crying In Curling

I was watching an Olympics curling game between Sweden and Canada and a hockey fight almost broke out.

Tom Hanks, in the movie ‘ a league of their own’ came out with the following famous line.

“there is no crying in baseball“

In the ninth end of this game, there was a flurry of accusations launched by one of the Swedish curlers against Mark Kennedy of the Canadian team. The back-and-forth heated up to involve F bombs. Tempers flared, but fortunately no fisticuffs resulted.

These tempers carried onto the post game press conferences, and continued to the next day. The World Curling Association had to step in and tell everybody to chill out.

I’m not gonna try to explain as to the accusation that was made by the Swedish team. Just leave it at one touch over the hog line. Even though the Swedish curler says that he has the video to prove the infraction, the video is not clear at all. The accusation might’ve had an effect on the Canadian team in that they lost their next game. We will see how it affects them for the rest of the round robin.

All I know, is that the skip, for the Canadian team, Brad Jacobs, is from my hometown of Sault Ste. Marie. So no one from the Soo would be involved in such nefarious activities, such as cheating.

It is my hope that the Canadian team will just brush this accusation aside and just sweep it under the rug, or under the ice in this case or on the ice in this case.

That’s all I have for today.
