Mid term Nightmare

There must be days that Donald Trump looks at Vladimir Putin and thinks why can’t I be in his position? Putin is leader for life and the elections are guaranteed.

Donald Trump is facing the midterms in November with a 37% approval rating. It is not going to be pretty for him at all. He is contemplating various options in bringing the elections his way. He has suggested having ICE agents at the polling booths. The head of ICE, last week, testified before Congress that there’s no need for ICE agents to be at polling booths. Trump suggested that the elections in each state fall under federal authority. That’s not going to happen. He is again complaining about mail in ballots. There are rumours now that he might use executive orders to change election rules. That could result in full-fledged civil disobedience.

Trump was desperately hoping to involve the insurrection act. He raised the temperature in Minnesota, hoping that there would be riots in response. But there were none. Minnesota officials, such as the governor of the state, and the mayor of Minneapolis, told people to protest but protest calmly, and they did. ICE is now pulling back from Minnesota with their tails between their legs.

The frightening part, with the midterms now nine months away, is that Trump will get more desperate in finding ways to alter or completely eliminate the midterms. How far will Trump go?

That is all I have for today.
