Money Can’t Buy You Love

This is a picture of Pierre Poilievre, back in 2023, when the world was his oyster. He was expected to be the next Prime Minister. He had everything going for him. Relying on sayings such as ‘ax the tax’ and ‘ Canada is broken’ he thought he had it made

As late as December 2024, he had a 20 point lead and his conservatives were well on their way to a majority. The election was only four months away. What could go wrong?

Well, a smile upside down is a frown. Pierre not only lost the election. He lost his own seat.

More news came out today that adds to Pierre’s humiliation. According to elections Canada, the conservative raised a record $48.4 million during the campaign. The liberals only raised $29.6 million. Furthermore, the conservatives spent $99 million during the election campaign. The liberals spent barely half of that amount at $55 million.

This is somewhat stunning. Four months before the election the conservative had a 20 point lead. The conservative almost doubled the amount liberals raised, and almost doubled the amount spent. Yet they lost.

This is a telling indication of how badly managed the conservative campaign was and how off message Pierre Poilievre was. If Pierre is still around for the 2029 election campaign, it could end up in a strong Liberal majority government.

That’s all I have for today.
