Rather No Deal

The August 19 tariff deadline is only two days away, now. Donald Trump has set that day as the day, if no deal is struck, he will add a 50% tariff on $20 billion worth of goods exported by Canada. The goods subject to this tariff would greatly affect the provinces of BC, Ontario and Quebec while leaving alone is 51st state targets of Alberta and Saskatchewan. His divide and conquer approach.

Donald Trump must be living in the past when he thinks about Canada. The 1950s and 1960s version of Canada where we looked up upon the US as a big Brother that we wanted to be like. Donald, we are no longer that. Donald you pissed us off and we’re meaner than a Canada goose protecting its territory.

Read the tea leaves Donald. A big indicator is that Mark Carney’s support rating is in the high 60s. Yours is at the lower 30% range. More important, Pierre Poilievre, who continues to refuse to bash you and continues to blame Mark Carney on the trade negotiations stall, rather than on you, has an 18% approval rating.

That means Canada is still behind Mark Carney in a big way. We will not back down Wednesday. We have put up with your crap long enough. I don’t know how Mark Carney will retaliate when these 50% tariffs kick in, but I trust him to do the right thing and that right thing will not be caving into you. Get that through your freaking head Donald.

That’s all I have.
