The Detroit Lions played the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo’s home opener of their new stadium last night. Both teams are located close to the Canadian border. There was controversy, not with the game itself, but with the fact that both the Canadian and American national anthems were sung last night before the game. The Canadian anthem was sung by the Canadian group, the Barenaked Ladies.

Why was the Canadian anthem sung last night? Well, a Buffalo Bills spokeswoman put it this way

 “thrilled to be part of such a unique event and to celebrate the connection we share with Bills fans across southern Ontario. The passion and support we feel from our Canadian fans is incredible, and we look forward to continuing to deepen those relationships and create memorable experiences together for years to come.”

Canadians, most, if not all from southern Ontario, represent 10,000 Buffalo Bills season ticket holders.

The controversy is the fact that the playing of the Canadian national anthem caused a snowstorm in Trumpland. Trump snowflakes are appalled at the fact that the Canadian national anthem was played at a US-based NFL stadium. The snowflake bitter complaints are ranging far and wide.

The Canadian national anthem is played before Buffalo Sabres NHL games. In fact, in April of this year, when there was technical difficulties with the microphone, the Sabres crowd sang the anthem for the anthem singer.

Despite Trump and his hatred for Canada, his anger at the country standing up to him, a lot of Americans and Canadians recognize the close friendship we have with each other. Trump has changed that relationship forever, but after he is gone, the friendship will remain.
